W. Scott Heisler is an experienced manager, innovator and a nurse with a passion for seeing the future of healthcare. He loves developing ideas to help nurses improve their lives and the care they provide to their patients. Heisler has been with Kaiser Permanente since 1996, in roles that have encompassed physician group practice, customer service improvement, Human Centered design and training. He has been involved in the design of projects related to Medication Safety, Pain Management, Streamlining Nursing workflow. Other projects have in using technology to innovate ways for nurses (and potentially physicians) to better leverage KP Health Connect to reduce time spent in locating resources and in documentation and consulting on projects around Acute Management Care at Home (AMCAH) and subclinical Depression.
Scott loves to train and has worked extensively with KP’s Center for Health System Performance Improvement Advisor program as Faculty teaching Human Centered Design techniques in the Improvement Advisor and Advanced Advisor program. He also serves as Faculty on the Advanced Track for Human Centered Design @ KP and serves as a Coach.
Scott has most recently been involved with a national project working on designing new workflows and that direct KP Members to enhanced content and cutting-edge mobile products in the emotional wellness space to improve their care experience and reduce stigma.
He and his wife, Marcia have two grown boys. On the weekend, he enjoys outdoor cooking, playing tennis, walking their dog or bike riding.
He has been in his current position with the Design Consultancy, as an Innovation Specialist, since 2006.
